The Problem

A Massachusetts’ apartment complex   faced several challenging issues such as land constraints and the building of new homes near environmentally-sensitive areas.

The Solution

BioprocessH2O addressed these issues and created an innovative solution by designing an advanced Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) Wastewater treatment plant with a reuse facility by providing reuse such as toilet flush water. The MBR plant processes water by using advanced anoxic nitrogen removal, aerobic biological treatment and membrane separation followed by UV disinfection.

The Results

The MBR wastewater treatment plant serves ~500 people living in 120 homes and has a treatment capacity of 30,000 gallons per day. Wastewater from the development is purified by the MBR wastewater treatment system for discharge to a leaching filed and returned to the environment and recycles a portion of the water for toilet flushing.
