Rendering Wastewater MBBR Application
BioprocessH2O installed a bioFAS MBBR Biological Treatment System designed for BOD and high strength ammonia reduction from effluent streams generated at a rendering operation located in Tennessee. The two-stage bioFAS MBBR bioreactor process is a modular equipment package installed in retrofitted concrete basins that provides a single-pass biological treatment process. The biological treatment process is designed to biodegrade BOD from 400 mg/L to <30 mg/L FBOD (Filtered Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and nitrify Ammonia from 200 mg/L to <18 mg/L FNH4 (Filtered Ammonia) for 30,000 gallons of wastewater per day.
The bioFAS MBBR System was delivered in two phases. The first phase was an emergency response equipment supply to the current situation where a Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) failed due to ongoing mechanical problems with the shaft bearing journals and structural members. . BioprocessH2O provided a Phase I "FAST-TRACK" MBBR Equipment Package to retrofit and upgrade the basins into a two-stage MBBR Bioreactor process. This core package included BioFAS B-402 MBBR media, 304SS aeration grids, 304SS retention screens, and two positive displacement air blowers. BioprocessH2O also provided a temporary electrical control panel for the PD (positive displacement) blower to provide "across-the-line" service.
